Man vs Bike
Wheels triumph over legs!
An unseasonally warm April evening contributed to the hot and fast-paced action on Wednesday night as the Man vs Bike
challenge brought both bikers and runners alike to compete in an 8km circuit of 3 Rock.

Last years competition saw Niall Davis of IMBRC win by a comfortable margin in a time of 32:03.
This year, the course designers remapped the course to provide a closer battle between legged and wheeled competitors.
The first significant climb was up the Boneshaker where the bikers inital margin was quickly eroded as the runners took
advantage of the rocky technical climb.
Significant distance was won back by the bikers on flat and technical downhill sections,
bikers on full-suspension bikes were laughing as they easily gained ground on the
section from 2 rock, and then again on the rocky trail coming down from Daggetts to the aerials.
A total of 58 people competed: 34 on bike, 24 on foot.
Bikers were represented by a good turn-out from Team WORC and MADMTB as well as competiors from EPIC, UCD, IMBRC Rocky Mountain.
Runners consisted of competitors from IMRA, EPIC as well as others clubs and non-affiliated runners.
The final result saw bikes take the top 3 positions, with Niall Davis, Peter Buggle and Joe McCall taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Gary Crossan from Letterkenny AC took 4th place and was the first runner home, over 4 and a half minutes behind winner Davis.
Well done and thanks to all who competed, especially those doing their first ever climb up the infamous Boneshaker!
