XC Development Racing: Round 1

The first of the developmental XC Race Series events commences on 21st Feb. in Ballinastoe, Wicklow.

This series is sponsored by WheelWorx and the Cycling Ireland Offroad Commission, and managed by Richie Byrne from EPICMTB.

While you have the option of registering on the day, you are requested to register online for this event in order to speed-up the sign-on process and also because our generous sponsors Wheelworx will be providing prizes via a raffle for online registrations!
So register online and be in with the chance to win yourself some cool biking goodies.

Online registration will be closing at 3pm on Friday 19th Feb so make sure to register in time!

This 3 race series is aimed at the beginner/novice and underage categories (no Senior categories) and there won’t be any savage climbs, everything will be rideable.

There will be an A and  B category for Sports:

  • A for riders who have reasonable experience on a bike
  • B for complete beginners

Other categories will be:

  • Ladies
  • Under 16
  • Under 14
  • Under 12
  • Under 10
  • Under 8.

Entry fee will be minimal (all underage will be free entry) but one day licences will be compulsory.

It is planned that Under 8/10/12 races will start at 10am with Under 14/16/Sports A & B/Ladies at 12 midday.

The Offroad Commission will be providing the trophies and additional support along with senior racers from various clubs – big thanks to those who have volunteered to help with this series!

IMPORTANT notice re; 2010 CI licences

The Cycling Ireland office has advised that there are issues with the Licence application process that will mean licences applications won’t be running properly until mid January.

Due to this all 2009 Licences will be extended until the 31st January 2010.

So for any events in January 2010, your 2009 licence will be acceptable.

We are waiting to find out what the situation is with people who do not have a 2009 licence but want a full licence for 2010.

Thanks
